Hiking guides in South Africa

Region guides and day-hike planning — not a best-of list.

Every listing on Hikeza carries the specific facts for that route — distance, difficulty, entry fee, dog policy and safety notes sourced from the reserve or operator that manages it. These guides cover the things that apply across most trails rather than any one route: what to actually pack for a South African day hike, and how to read a difficulty rating so "moderate" means the same thing whether it's on a municipal reserve's signboard or a private operator's website.

More guides get added as we cover new ground — if there's something you keep wishing a trail directory would explain before you head out, let us know.
