Elephant's Eye cave Cape Town
Elephant's Eye is a cave in the Silvermine section of Table Mountain National Park. The path stays largely flat before a steeper, rockier climb to the cave mouth, with views across Tokai toward Muizenberg and False Bay. We publish about 5km and two hours on the listing — treat that as a planning figure and confirm the current route on SANParks. Drops near the cave: keep dogs on a short lead.
The other Silvermine days
- Silvermine Waterfall Trail — easy, about 4.5km from Silvermine East / Gate 1. Seasonal falls, best after winter rain.
- Silvermine Reservoir Picnic Site — bring-your-own beside the dam, not a wine-estate basket. Dogs only on the far side of the reservoir, with a My Activity permit.
SANParks publishes Table Mountain conservation fees on the TMNP rates page. We do not copy a rand figure onto these listings. Official Silvermine page: Silvermine (SANParks).
Nearby if you want the Atlantic side instead: Chapman's Peak hike from Hout Bay. The reserve hub is Silvermine Nature Reserve. Browse Silvermine listings.
