“Knysna hiking” usually means a short SANParks boardwalk on the N2, the 9km Kranshoek picnic-site walk, a CapeNature peninsula at Plettenberg Bay, or the Tsitsikamma coastline at Storms River. Hikeza lists the ones we can tie to official distances and rules.
Garden of Eden (Knysna)
SANParks lists Garden of Eden as an 800m walk in the Knysna section of Garden Route National Park, on the N2 between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Wooden boardwalks and bridges through yellowwood forest, described as wheelchair-friendly, with benches and picnic tables. No braai. No dogs. Day visitors pay the park conservation fee at the entrance office — SANParks publishes current Garden Route rates. Reservations line: 012 428 9111.
Kranshoek Trail
SANParks lists the Kranshoek Trail as 9km in the Knysna section of the park. That is the distance we publish. It starts at the Kranshoek picnic site, reached on gravel from the N2 between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. No dogs. Conservation fees apply — check current Garden Route rates. Confirm the trail is open before you drive; coastal sections in this park have been rerouted after safety assessments.
Harkerville Coastal Trail
SANParks lists the Harkerville Coastal Trail as 26km. That is the distance we publish. It is not Kranshoek and not Garden of Eden. SANParks has announced a temporary inland reroute after a safety assessment closed parts of the coastal path. Confirm the current marked route on SANParks’ Garden Route hikes page before you drive. No dogs. Conservation fees apply.
Elephant Trail
SANParks lists the Elephant Trail as 18km on the same page. We do not invent a start hut or overnight rule beyond that official figure. Confirm access on SANParks. No dogs.
