Delta Park

Official JCPZ green lung in Victory Park — picnic, dams and a morning perimeter walk, not a mountain reserve.

Delta Park is a Johannesburg City Parks site in Victory Park, not a private lodge and not Kloofendal Nature Reserve. Listing: Delta Park. The other verified JCPZ picnic parks sit on picnic spots in Johannesburg.

Official facts

JCPZ: 104 hectares of grassland and woodland around three tree-lined dams, with the Florence Bloom Bird Sanctuary inside the park. Official facilities include a picnic area, walking trails, a sensory trail and bird hides. A comfortable perimeter walk “takes the better part of a morning.” The southern border joins the Braamfontein Spruit Trail. We do not invent a kilometre figure for that perimeter.

Address on the official page: 77 Craighall Road, Victory Park. Phone 011 888 4831. Parking at the centre and main entrance via Road No 3 or Road No 5 off Rustenburg Road, Victory Park, or at Pitcairn Road and Penelope Avenue, Blairgowrie. Entry is not listed as a charge.

The southeast corner is where JCPZ points picnic spots. The Delta Environmental Centre runs wildlife courses and school holiday programmes — that is a centre product, not the park walk.

Dogs and fires

Treat dogs as welcome on a leash in designated areas, following JCPZ’s general parks page. Do not assume off-leash. Do not copy the botanical-garden braai ban onto this park unless JCPZ publishes it on the Delta page.

Nearby if you want a fenced reserve instead: Kloofendal Nature Reserve (no dogs). For Emmarentia Dam lawns, Johannesburg Botanical Gardens — no open fires, braais or alcohol there.

Is Delta Park free?
Yes. Johannesburg City Parks does not publish an entry charge on the official Delta Park page. Parking is at the centre and main entrance, or at Pitcairn Road and Penelope Avenue in Blairgowrie.
Are dogs allowed at Delta Park?
The listing treats Delta Park as dog-friendly. JCPZ’s general parks page says dogs on a leash in designated areas. We do not publish an off-leash rule. Kloofendal Nature Reserve, a different JCPZ site in Roodepoort, is no dogs.
Can you braai at Delta Park?
The official Delta Park page names a picnic area. It does not publish a braai rule. JCPZ’s “no open fires or braais” line on the plan-your-visit page is attached to Johannesburg Botanical Gardens. We do not copy that garden rule onto Delta Park.
