The Geological Trail
A moderate, roughly 3.9km circular route, about two and a half hours. It starts at the 70-metre Witpoortjie Falls and carries interpretation boards on the Witwatersrand’s rock. The garden covers almost 300 hectares of landscaped and natural veld. Verreaux’s eagles nest on the cliffs.
As of early 2026 the upper steps to the top of the falls were temporarily closed. The lower trail and the falls viewpoint from the lawn remained open. Check SANBI before you plan to climb the upper section.
