Emmarentia Dam searches are looking for the Johannesburg City Parks park in Emmarentia, not a mountain reserve. Official name on the JCPZ page: Emmarentia Dam and Johannesburg Botanical Gardens. Listing: Johannesburg Botanical Gardens picnic.
Official facts
JCPZ: the combined dam and gardens cover more than 81 hectares, six kilometres from the city centre. Open sunrise to sunset. The dam is on the northeast side; the page names canoeing and small-boat clubs on the eastern embankment. Lawns are used by dog walkers, cyclists, runners and weekend picnickers. The gardens page names a rose garden, indigenous herb patch, succulents, terraced ponds, a Shakespearean garden and a chapel garden for weddings.
A separate JCPZ gardens-about page describes the park as fenced, with staffed gates, and the dam as 7.5 hectares. We do not invent a walking-loop kilometre figure on top of that.
Main entrance: Olifants Road. Other parking: Thomas Bowler, Orange and The Braids roads. The park page does not publish a public gate phone. Herbarium and library tours use a different number on the official page — that is not a picnic booking line, and we do not copy it onto the listing.
Entry is not listed as a charge. Wedding, photo-shoot and large-group bookings are a separate JCPZ venue product.
