The reserve includes smaller Assegaaibosch (204 ha) — picnic oaks, not a summit. Dogs are not permitted without the reserve manager’s prior written consent.

Not the same as

Questions

Is Jonkershoek Nature Reserve the same as the Stellenbosch hiking trails?
Yes for day hikers. The four listed Stellenbosch mountain walks sit inside CapeNature’s Jonkershoek Nature Reserve, about 9km from town. Assegaaibosch next door is the picnic site, not a summit hike.
How much is Jonkershoek Nature Reserve?
CapeNature’s reserve page has shown both R70 and R50 for day access. We do not pick one figure. Buy a permit via the MTO website or at the MTO gate. Wild Cards need a confirmation letter or the physical card. Office 087 087 4118.
Is Jonkershoek circular-route parking open?
CapeNature’s reserve page says parking on the circular route is closed from 23 March 2026 until further notice. Use the outside parking and walk about 5km to the trails. Confirm on the official page before you drive.
