What catches people out
- No shade and no water on the climb. Start early in summer and carry more water than feels polite.
- Strong south-easters close the cableway and the upper mountain. Hiking up and assuming you can ride down is a common mistake.
- SANParks recommends groups of four or more in Table Mountain National Park. See Table Mountain hiking safety.
India Venster is the harder standard route under the cableway, with chains and exposure. Pipe Track stays on the contour and does not summit. Compare all four in the Table Mountain hiking trails guide.
