Oribi Gorge

Three gates, three tickets — inland from Port Shepstone, not a Durban after-work walk.

Most “Oribi Gorge” searches mix the Ezemvelo reserve and the hotel adventure desk. Listings: Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve and Wild 5 Adventures, Oribi Gorge and Lake Eland Game Reserve. None of these is Krantzkloof.

Oribi Gorge Hotel / Wild 5

Official rates page: view-sites and suspension bridge adults R40, pensioners and children 6–12 R30, under 5 free. Hiking, birding and the 60m-high bridge walk are listed as included. Paid extras on that page: Wild Swing 165m R840, Wild Slide R420, Wild Abseil 110m R750, quads R475, paintball R210.

Hours on the official Oribi Gorge page: out of season Wednesday–Sunday 08:30–16:30; in season, school holidays and public holidays daily 08:30–16:30. Book abseil, quads and paintball ahead. 082 566 7424.

Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve (Ezemvelo)

Separate gate, separate ticket. Ezemvelo lists the reserve under overnight parks and sells rest huts, a chalet and campsites on the official booking system. Day visitors pay a conservation fee at the Ezemvelo gate. We do not publish a rand amount — the last public table we could read is out of date. Confirm on the tariffs PDF linked from Ezemvelo activities. An Ezemvelo Rhino Club card is listed for free day entry at Ezemvelo-managed gates, including this reserve. A SANParks Wild Card is a different product — see hiking permits.

Lake Eland Game Reserve

A third, private gate. Official day entry R85 adults, gates 07:00–17:00, hiking and an 80m suspension bridge included, no pets. Full fact sheet: Lake Eland Game Reserve.

Is Oribi Gorge the nature reserve or the hotel?
Three places use the name. Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve is Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife — conservation fee at their gate, overnight huts on the official booking system. Oribi Gorge Hotel / Wild 5 Adventures is a private property with a separate R40 view-site entrance. Lake Eland Game Reserve is a third private reserve (official day fee R85). They are not the same ticket.
How much is Oribi Gorge?
Wild 5’s official rates page lists view-sites and the suspension bridge at R40 for adults (R30 pensioners and children 6–12, under 5 free). Hiking is included. Lake Eland’s official day visitor fee is R85 adults and R65 children under 12. Ezemvelo’s nature-reserve day fee is charged at their gate — confirm the live figure on the current Ezemvelo tariffs PDF. Do not reuse an old R40 figure for the reserve.
Can you hike Oribi Gorge without doing the swing?
Yes. At Wild 5, hiking and the suspension-bridge walk are listed as included with the view-site entrance. At Lake Eland, hiking is the day-visitor fee only. At the Ezemvelo reserve, day walks are a conservation-fee visit, not a hotel activity. Overnight stays are booked on bookings.kznwildlife.com (resort: Oribi Gorge).
