Hiking trails in Newlands

Browse trails in Newlands, Cape Town.

Newlands listings sit mostly inside Newlands Forest on Table Mountain's eastern flank. The Contour Path and Woodcutters Trail are the gentler dog-walk options (My Activity permit required); Newlands Ravine is a technical gorge climb, not a picnic stroll. SANParks does not publish kilometre figures for those forest walks. Rhodes Memorial's lawns on Devil's Peak are a free picnic, separate from the SANParks Newlands picnic and braai pay point, where dogs, alcohol and music are prohibited.

Forest-side parking is off Union Avenue (M3). Confirm parking charges on site and the current Newlands conservation fee on the SANParks TMNP rates page — we do not copy a rand figure. Dark Gorge, next to Newlands Ravine, is for experienced scramblers only and is not listed here.
