Stellenbosch's trail listings sit inside CapeNature's Jonkershoek Nature Reserve (9,800 ha, about 9km from town). Official day hikes: Tweede Waterval (6.4km), Swartboskloof–Sosyskloof (5.3km or 6.9km), Panorama Circuit (17km) and Swartboskloof Trail (18km). From 23 March 2026, circular-route parking is closed until further notice: use the outside parking and walk about 5km to the trails. Cut-offs apply (Waterval after 14:00, Sosyskloof after 12:00, Panorama and Swartboskloof after 10:00; exit by 18:00). Day-access tariffs on the reserve page have shown both R70 and R50. Dogs are not permitted without the reserve manager's prior written consent. Separately, Assegaaibosch is a bring-your-own picnic site under oaks, capped at 60 visitors a day, while Spier's picnic listing is a pre-booked basket experience.
