Unlike the Winelands' many wine-farm picnic experiences, Assegaaibosch is a straightforward CapeNature picnic site: permanent benches under old oak trees, about 9km from Stellenbosch in the Jonkershoek valley, on a first-come-first-served basis limited to 60 visitors a day. Alcohol isn't permitted on site. Contact the reserve to confirm current opening hours and any dog policy before visiting.
