President Paul Kruger proclaimed Groenkloof a game sanctuary on 25 February 1895 — the first on the African continent. The City of Tshwane page lists three day hikes: a red trail at 3.5km / 1.3km, a white trail at 3.7km, and a yellow trail at 10.5km. Booking is only required for overnight facilities (two weeks ahead) or if you want a guide. Guided day hike is listed at about four hours. Gates 06:00–18:00; last entry one hour before close. Cash-free. The published adult day tariff on that page is R58 — confirm the current fee (Tshwane tariffs typically change on 1 July). Bookings: 012 358 1757 or groenkloofnaturereserver3@tshwane.gov.za.
