City of Tshwane: Faerie Glen Nature Reserve was part of the farm Hartbeespoort, given to Pretoria as public open space in 1973. The Bronberg is a critically endangered ecosystem (2011). Gold Reef Mountain Bushveld and Marikana Thornveld. Proclaimed a nature reserve in 2014; impala, red hartebeest and zebra were introduced afterwards. Official hiking trails: Hadeda 2.9km (easy), Acacia Trail 2.5km (medium; official page spells it Acacia Trial), Kiepersol 4.1km (hard). Informal picnic, no braais. Dogs on a leash with a permit issued at the cashier (about three days). Gate 06:00–18:00; last entry 17:00. Cashless. Adult entrance R23 from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 — Tshwane says if the web figure differs from the gate, the gate prevails. Groups larger than 20 must book.
