Established in 1895 in Oranjezicht, De Waal Park is one of the few fully-enclosed parks in central Cape Town, which makes it especially popular for off-leash dog walking. It has a Victorian fountain and pond, over 100 tree species, a playground and tennis courts, alongside shaded lawns for picnicking. Entry is free, with donations welcomed by the Friends of De Waal Park.
