Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve is a 253-hectare Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife reserve in Yellowwood Park, south of Durban's city centre, proclaimed in 1963 on land bequeathed by Kenneth Stainbank. Coastal forest and grassland cover most of the property — real yellowwood trees line many paths, and bushbuck, duiker, zebra and vervet monkeys are resident. Ezemvelo's reserve information lists about 13 km of nature walks, a specially designed path for visitors with disabilities, a picnic site and a roughly 10 km mountain-bike trail. Maps and species lists are available from the field ranger at the entrance gate, where an entrance fee is charged. The historic Coedmore Castle sits inside the reserve. Contact Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife for current gate times and fees before you visit.
